SwimFaster Program Singapore

SwimFaster is Singapore Aquatic’s introductory course for aspiring competitive swimmers who have completed at least SwimSafer Stage 1.

Steady Swim School provides SwimFaster lessons across Singapore to prepare and guide swimmers to achieve Bronze, Silver, and Gold certification.

What is the SwimFaster Program?

SwimFaster is an awards-based course designed to introduce swimmers to pre-competitive and competitive level swimming in Singapore. Under the SwimFaster program, participants will be assessed for swimming technique, speed, and overall proficiency in SwimFaster events organised by Singapore Aquatics.

Participation in the SwimFaster program requires swimmers to have completed at least SwimSafer Stage 1 or an equivalent swimming certification, such as the SSC Learn to Swim Program or the National Survival Swimming Award (NASSA).

Upon meeting the minimum requirement, swimmers can immediately start training under private or group swimming lessons for the SwimFaster assessment.

At Steady Swim, we consistently evaluate the readiness of learners and only arrange for SwimFaster assessments when swimmers reach the appropriate level of competence.

SwimFaster Awards and Benchmarks

SwimFaster awards are Bronze, Silver, and Gold certification. To achieve an award, swimmers must complete a set distance within the benchmark timing for each swimming stroke.

Assessments at SwimFaster events are carried out in a competitive environment with rules for proper technique according to FINA standards.

Frequently Asked Questions

01

Do I need to achieve each SwimFaster award in succession (i.e Bronze, Silver, Gold)?

No – participants will be awarded according to their personal timings instead of a pass or fail. If a participant reaches the Gold standard during their very first attempt – they will achieve Gold certification. There is no requirement to earn Bronze and Silver awards beforehand.

02

When and where do SwimFaster assessments take place?

SwimFaster assessments are carried out by Singapore Aquatics (SAQ) a number of times throughout the year, in scheduled events at the Singapore Sports School in Woodlands.

Steady Swim School instructors ensure that learners are up to date with assessments, informing the student in advance when it is time to register.

03

How many lessons are within SwimFaster?

SwimFaster is an awards program – not a course that includes a set amount of lessons. Learners must continually participate in swimming lessons to continue improving and remain prepared for their SwimFaster assessment.
04

Is there an age requirement for SwimFaster program participation?

There is no age requirement for the SwimFaster program – however, participants are usually at least 3 years old to have completed the minimum SwimSafer Stage 1 requirement. The SwimFaster events are structured by age group, with the youngest category being 9 years and under, and some distance events such as the 1500m Freestyle, are restricted to 11 years and above only.
