Group Motivation

Swimming with others will help push you to work hard and achieve your goals. Group swim classes create a sense of camaraderie and building trust in one another, which is essential for staying motivated and learning new skills. It builds social, emotional, and cognitive well-being, which will aid in your development as a swimmer.

Group classes are cost-effective because the price of each class is divided amongst the participants. This means that you can get quality instruction without having to break the bank.

Increased Competition

Swimming can be a very competitive sport, and group swim classes provide an opportunity to test your skills and have a confidence-building experience that will help prepare you for competition. It also allows you to compare your progress with others in the class and get a better understanding of your progression track.

Our Stages of Progress Chart

During our semi-private lessons, our certified swim instructor will assess your current level and provide suitable strokes that are tailored to meet the needs of all participants.

To start, here are the stages of progress that we work on at Steady Swim School:

Stage 1 – Floating and Gliding:

In this stage, you’ll learn basic skills such as how to properly float, glide, basic paddle stroke, and basic water safety skills. In these child classes, one guardian per child must be present.

Stage 2 – Kicking and Streamlining:

This stage is where you’ll work on your kicks, leg action, body positions, and streamlining. You’ll also work on basic breathing techniques and learn the benchmark skills for the front and back crawl.

Stage 3 – Stroke Development:

At this stage, you’ll focus on refining your stroke proficiency and technique. You’ll learn how to perform the breaststroke, butterfly, diving techniques, flip turns, more competitive strokes, and advanced swimming skills. This skill level is different for each individual and is dependent on the swimmer’s goals.

Stage 4 – Mastering Personal Water Safety

The most important part of this physical activity is safety. In this stage, you’ll learn personal safety around water, and how to respond in case of an emergency. This includes understanding the water environment, the foundation of water safety, avoiding potential hazards, rescue techniques, and additional water safety topics.

Step 5 – Underwater Exploration:

In this stage, you’ll explore underwater with the help of our certified instructors. You will learn how to safely navigate underwater while improving swim readiness skills. You’ll also learn how to adjust your body position and refine your breath control.

Things To Remember When Joining Group Swim Class

1. Swim Diaper

For infants and toddlers, it’s important to remember to bring a swim diaper. A regular diaper will not keep the mess out of the pool and may lead to a dangerous situation.

2. Goggles and Swimming Cap (if necessary)

Goggles can help protect your eyes from the chlorine in the pool, and swimming caps can help reduce drag. It’s recommended to bring both if you plan on swimming for longer periods of time.

3. Towels and Sunscreen

Swimming can be a great workout and leave you needing a relaxing shower afterward. Make sure to bring a towel and sunscreen for after the class.

4. Snacks

It’s always important to stay hydrated and energized, especially when taking a swim class. Bring some snacks with you to keep your energy level up during the session.

5. Let us know about Chronic disease conditions (if applicable)

Some chronic medical conditions may require special attention. Please make sure to let us know about any medical conditions for the safety of our swimmers. Swimming should promote healthy lifestyle habits, so make sure to practice those safely in order to get the most out of your swim class!

My son, Shivanan, had a very positive experience learning under coach kyle. Shivanan was initially quite timid in the water but within the first few classes he became confident as the coach was understanding and friendly. Throughout the eight months he progressed really well. Coach Kyle is a wonderful teacher who makes sure the lesson is enjoyable but also pushes his students to excel and improve. He is patient but firm. I highly recommend him as a swim coach
